Open-cell vs. closed-cell: what's the difference
Closed-cell spray foam
Closed-cell foam is dense, rigid, and acts as both an insulator and a vapor barrier. It has the highest R-value per inch of any insulation material, around R-6 to R-7 per inch, which makes it the right call when space is limited or moisture control is critical.

Open-cell spray foam
Open-cell foam is softer, expands more aggressively, and costs less per square foot than closed-cell. It's excellent for large surface areas where thorough coverage is the priority and moisture diffusion is not a concern.

Why spray foam outperforms traditional insulation in Texas
Fiberglass batts insulate, but they don't seal. Air still moves through gaps, seams, and the batts themselves. In a Texas summer, that means your HVAC is fighting a constant influx of 100-degree air leaking in from the attic, walls, and every unsealed penetration. Spray foam seals and insulates in one step, which is why homes with spray foam typically have dramatically lower cooling loads than the same home with fiberglass.

What to expect from a spray foam job
We start with a free on-site estimate. We look at the actual structure, not just square footage numbers. Once you approve a quote, we schedule the work. On installation day, you'll need to vacate the area being sprayed and give it time to cure before reoccupying. Most residential jobs are done in a single day. We clean up after ourselves when we leave.
For new construction, the right time to call is right after framing and rough-in plumbing and electrical are complete, before drywall. Don't wait. Spray foam has to go in before the walls close.
